New York-based photographer Maki Kawakita has photographed such celebrities as Missy Elliot, Ashanti, Alicia Keys and Beyonce and her work has been on the cover of Dazed and Confused, Pound, Luire Japan, Dune, Bounce, RPM and Digital PhotoPro. Maki’s work has been influenced in equal measure by her training in the traditional Japanese performing arts, such as Kabuki theater, music and dance, and by the popular culture of her homeland of Japan. Her one-woman show, Makirama, has been exhibited twice at the Galerie Laurent Strouk in Paris.

I have recently completed a big photo project for Mook, a popular Japanese lifestyle magazine that is also a book. I worked with Lina, a Japanese singer/dancer. Many of the images had a strong sensual theme. I needed to produce 120- 150 pages of diverse imagery in just three shooting days. I couldn’t have had a better tool than the Sinarback eMotion75.

It enabled me to shoot spontaneously at any moment, whether Lina was walking in the park or talking on her cell phone. Often, I let my subject dance and I needed a digital back that was both fast and sharp. The eMotion75 had all the features I was looking for, producing superb-quality images that thrilled both me and my subject.
